No one gets out alive

Sometimes people ask me "What's the point?" about my specific type of photography. And while my gut reaction is to be defensive and start a lengthy explanation about empowerment, body image, and the life altering amazingness of intimate portraits, sometimes I grow tired of explaining and it starts to feel too heavy. So I've been thinking about why I've continually circled back to boudoir, while other things have dropped away. The simplest answer is it brings joy.

When the world is hard, and the grind feels more like an endless weight, you have to seek out joy. The creation of something beautiful is joyful because we are reminded that our inherent gift as humans is creation. And to see an image of yourself in a beautiful way, to know that your body just being itself is what made that image beautiful, that is a good feeling. And do we really have time for anything less?
